The Shure SM57 is a rugged, dynamic cardioid microphone that has been the go-to workhorse for instrument miking, snare drums, guitar amps, and even vocals since its introduction in 1965. With over 5 million units sold, it’s one of the most recorded and performed-with microphones in history — trusted by engineers, musicians, and broadcasters worldwide for its clarity, durability, and versatility. Its contoured frequency response emphasizes midrange attack and presence, making instruments cut through dense mixes with minimal EQ.
